I have gotten some comments for changing-up the game of beer pong
! Good to hear from those that have commented on the posts! I liked most of these! We all have been at a party where there are people playing beer pong and there is always one person that seems to always be winning. Okay break out the house rules and modify the game by having the players toss the ball with their opposite hands. This ought to be just to much fun! There is another way to even out the playing field, (we don’t want the winners not to get thier glass of beer) have them use the bounce method or as it has been commented by some of the best players that have left comments, is to sit in a chair and try to toss the ball into the cup. Imaginative, to cool!
Love the comments and the ideas that this Blog has received! Keep them coming love to hear from all of you Beer Pongers! Pong On!
Beer Pong Party
Okay, lets pretend that you have gone to a party and that you are actually 21! You have already been drinking and feel a bit buzzed. You have been watching a
few people playing Beer Pong and every one is having a good time playing the game! You are feeling a bit confident and grab a friend that is hanging out at the back of the basement and you sign up to play a game of beer pong!
Now you have been waiting and watching for awhile and getting more of a buzz drinking and your turn arrives to play! You feel that victory is yours while you walk up to the beer pong table! Now all of a sudden you feel your palms getting sweaty and you realize that you have never played the game before and then you ask yourself what do I do now! You felt victory earlier and now victory is coming from the other side of the table with the other team juggling the ping pong balls!
Panic sets in! So what do you do? Been there and done that, my advise is to aim at one cup and give the ball some loft. Most players just toss the ball and hope for the best! So just remember to aim at one cup and have a lot of lob in your shot and you will do just fine!
Essential Beer Pong Equipment
Anyone who has played beer pong knows that without the correct equipment the game can quickly make a mess. Putting a wooden board on top of your kitchen table may give the appearance of a beer pong table, but as soon as someone stumbles into it and spills beer throughout your house, you will be ruing the decision. Even when playing on an actual ping-pong table, spilled beer is commonplace.
Not only does the beer make stains and create a sticky mess, but it also causes the cups to move across the table. This is particularly annoying when trying to get a re-rack and correctly position the cups. Luckily, there are beer pong cup racks that will hold the cups in place and make re-racking a cinch.
Tournaments and leagues
Beer pong tournaments are held in the United States at the local, regional, and national levels.
The World Series of Beer Pong (WSOBP), hosted by bpong.com, is the largest beer pong tournament in the world. WSOBP
IV, held in January 2009 at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, had a $50,000 grand prize and attracted over 800 participants from the US and Canada. WSOBP V, held in January 2010, attracted over 1000 participants, and attracted beer pong teams from Ireland, Scotland, Germany and Japan, each of which voiced their aspirations to further the sport in their home countries. The World Beer Pong Tour has stops in various cities and cash prizes as well.
A more common organization of beer pong games are leagues which operate on a local or regional level. Ordinarily, a group of pong enthusiasts will create teams (partnerships) and play weekly against each other. Sometimes, the leagues have websites, rankings and statistics, while others have been started by college students with the goal of intramural competition such as at University of California, Santa Barbara with the “Isla Vista Beer Pong League”, and at New York University.
The Beer Pong Rules
Beer Pong (also known as Beirut) is a drinking game in which players throw a ping -pong ball across a beer pong table
with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer/water on the other end. The game typically consists of two-to-four-player teams and multiple cups set up on each side set up in triangle formation of six to ten cups. There are no official rules, so rules may vary widely, what can make the game more interesting is when the house calls for house rules! What I recommend is to have a cup filled with some warm/hot water, put into a cup to wash the ball off if it has hit the floor.
The goal of the game is to eliminate the other teams’ cups before one’s own cups are eliminated. When a ball lands in a cup, which are generally 1/4 to 1/3 full, that cup is eliminated and the defending team must consume all of the beer inside that cup and any other cups knocked over.
The losing team must consume all the beer remaining in the winning team’s cups. The order of play varies – both players on one team shoot followed by both players on the other team, or players on opposite teams can alternate back and forth.
I would also recommend that you buy a bag of balls for this game! Who knows, the ball may end up under a washer/dryer or any other piece of furniture! Have fun and play safe! PONG-ON!
