Darts Do Need To Be Cleaned

I was wondering, “When have I ever cleaned our darts”. I have really never cleaned them other then to wipe them down while playing, and that was not really cleaning them at all! I have cleaned the dart board and have neglected the darts.

The darts are really the most important part of the game. They are what is handled the most. They go from one person to the next play after play. They are on the floor, on a miss throw, bouncing and rolling around, picking up who knows what.

SO, when was the last time you cleaned your darts?

Maybe.. “Never“?

Accumulated dirt, skin acid, chalk dust, pretzel salt, hand lotion, (beer), etc. can build up on your dart barrels. This corrosive mixture is what actually eats away that original pretty finish.

Skin acid is pretty potent stuff. As example, just look at how quickly a new penny, or polished silverware, tarnishes after being handled.

That acid, along with salty residue from snacks, is very effective at corroding away the nickel matrix that is the binding material in nickel/tungsten darts.

When someone’s dart start to show wear, with knurling smoothing down, & the sharp edges of grooves becoming rounded, it is not usually just due to hitting other darts. The majority of such wear is simply corrosion.

To greatly extend the useful life of your darts, clean them regularly, and especially after eating any salty or greasy snacks. Any mild cleaner that can remove oil will do: hand soap, household ammoniated cleaners, even moist towelettes (not the ones that contain hand lotion!). At tournaments or league, small alcohol swab packets are handy.

Removing all of that crud from your darts will not only make them last longer, but will also restore much of the grip by removing both the slippery feeling and the particles filling-in the hollows of the knurling.

Just about any sport equipment needs to be cleaned regularly to remove sweat, dirt, etc., yet it never occurs to most people that their darts also need cleaning.

Not to mention.. isn’t it a bit gross to be handling those grubby darts that have been on the floor, bars, tables, many hands, etc.?

So, to make your darts last longer & throw better… keep ‘em clean!

Darts, All Family Fun

Darts are the easiest and cheapest way to bring a great sport into your home which virtually anyone can play. A Dartboard will provide many hours of good competition and fun for the family, at a very low price.

These are some important considerations that need to be kept in mind before you rush off and purchase a new dartboard, but once you have considered these, there are many excellent boards to choose from at very reasonable prices. The most important consideration of all is, as ever, safety. A dart is a sharp instrument which can do a lot of serious damage in the wrong hands, so be very careful who has access to the equipment.

It is very important to determine right at the beginning whether or not you have plenty room to have a dart board installed. It is not just a case of measuring the necessary distance between the wall and the line from which the dart will need to be thrown. There needs to be enough room behind this line for the player to feel comfortable in their stance when throwing the dart. It is useful if there is room for other people to pass behind someone standing on the line, but if you don’t have anywhere big enough to allow for this, you may want to go ahead anyway.

Contrary to many popular opinions darts is not a sport for the lazy. Despite the reputation of many darts players being idle and unfit, darts does put a strain on your body and need a certain degree of fitness. Certainly, you will need a strong, developed throwing arm to play for any length of time. It is important to realize that you will need to practice in order to develop the ability to keep playing for long periods of time, but that you will need to rest your arm at the right time to avoid possible injury.

Dart boards are available in many different types and price ranges, and are available in different materials. It is best to avoid the really cheapest dart boards, as they are not made of bristle. Dart boards which are not made of bristle do tend to wear out more easily and more often, so if you are going to be playing a lot of darts it is a false economy anyway. The dart will not stick into the surface as well, and areas of the board can easily become damaged from excess wear. Other than the consideration of the material used in the manufacture of the dart board, there is no real reason to choose anything more expensive than the basic model.

Often, the more pricey dart board sets are dearer because of the premium woods used in the surround, which is purely for cosmetic purposes, or because the set is themed in some way. Organizations such as the NFL, which make a lot of money from selling endorsed goods, have dartboards amongst their items for sale. You can get a dartboard with the logo of any NFL team on the case, and obviously these boards come at a premium price. It is really up to you how much you want to spend on a dartboard.

Dart Rules to Play By

The game of darts is usually played between two teams of players or two players.  Each team can consist of two or more people. Although there have are different variations of the game which allow for more than two sides, these have not gained much popularity.

Generally, each player is allowed nine throws as a warm up before the beginning of a game. After the warm up, one person from each team throws a dart. This is to determine which team or person is eligible to take the first turn. The team that got the dart closest to the bull’s eye takes the first turn.

Each player, in his turn, is allowed to throw three darts. Two sets of darts are thrown — one by each team — before the darts are retrieved. If the thrower’s foot crosses over the line or if the person happens to trip over the oche (the throwing line, which a dart player stands behind to throw the darts) while releasing the dart, the throw does not count for any points and there may not be a re-throw.

After a player’s final throw, the dart must stay on the board for a minimum of five seconds for it to be counted. Also, a throw scores no points if the dart sticks into another dart or falls off the board.

In the basic method for play and scoring, the throws that are successful score in the following manner: (1) in the wedge — the amount posted on the outer ring; (2) the double ring (the outer, narrow ring) — twice the number hit; (3) the triple ring (the inner, narrow ring) — three times the number hit; (4) bull’s eye (outer bull) — twenty-five points; and (5) double bull’s eye (inner bull) — fifty points.

Of the games played by dart players around the world, the two most popular ones are “301″ and “Cricket.” Of these, 301 is the easier, as, in this, each side begins the game with 301 points and throws in an effort to make their score zero. Cricket, a more complex game that requires more throwing skill and strategy, is played using mainly the numbers 15 through 20 and the bull’s eyes.

With the rules of darts in place then you can play and have loads of fun with the family and friends!

Electronic dart boards have games installed and are pre programmed to tally up the scores of the players. This completely takes out all of the guess work out of playing unfamiliar games. Setting up the electronic dart board at regulation height and distance allows you to get the most out of your installed dart board. Using all of the proper equipment to hang your dart board ensures that the dart board will not fall to the ground when playing a well round of darts.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • 2-foot level
  • 1/8-inch drill bit
  • Variable speed drill motor
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 3 AA batteries
  • Electrical tape
  1. Measure up 68 inches from the floor with a tape measure. Mark a horizontal line on the wall with a pencil. Starting at the horizontal pencil mark, draw a vertical line along the side of the level with a pencil.
  2. Measure 5 9/16 inches up from the 68-inch mark and place a mark across the vertical line with a pencil. Set the level against the wall horizontally. Align one edge of the level with the mark you placed across the vertical line. Using the vertical line as the center point, draw an 8-inch horizontal line with the pencil.
  3. Place two marks on the horizontal line with your pencil. Draw each mark 3 1/4 inches out from the vertical line. Mark a final location 68 3/4 inches off the floor with the mark crossing the vertical line drawn with the level. Circle the 68 3/4-inch and the two 3 1/4-inch marks with your pencil.
  4. Drill a 1/8-inch hole at each location with a 1/8-inch drill bit and a variable speed drill motor. Install one supplied screw into each hole with a Phillips screwdriver. Leave the heads of the three screws 1/8 inch from the surface of the wall.

Collage Beer Pong Party Theme

You have been to some of the craziest parties at your collage as most of us have. Most of us have even gone to a collage because of its night life and party status. Just drop a hat and there you are, at a party for some reason. It can be a holiday, a birthday, even if it is made up, or the end of a semester. Who cared, it was just part of the collage scene! Here is a party waiting to happen that’s both collage and work -BEER- who can not drink beer!

You don’t need a reason to drink beer but it is a good reason to have a party. The hardest thing is to find the beer cheap, real cheap. If you are lucky you may know a party store owner or a bartender or someone that knows one and can get the beer for you.

The party should have food there and the best way to get that is to have the people that you invite to bring something with them to eat. All you have to do is suggest what they bring if you know that one of them makes a great finger food then ask them to make something up. You will always have someone that can bring chips and pretzels. All you have to do is figure on how fancy you want the party to be.

Now is the entertainment. You will have to get out the beer pong table. What kind of a BEER PARTY will it be if you do not get the beer pong tables out to play. Then there are the darts, for the guest to play while they are waiting to get into the beer pong game or beer pong tournament.

There are a lot of things that you can do for a beer party theme. It is just what you want to make of it. Have some fun planning it so that you know that your guest are going to have the best of fun!

The Game of Darts

The game of darts has become very popular around the world and is fun to play. In the past it was considered a Pub game but you will find that it is popular in homes and bars in the United States and the United Kingdom.

In this game each player is required to throw 3 darts per turn from behind a line which is around 5 feet away from the dart board. The board is basically divided into 20 numbers. When the player’s dart hits the specific numbered area, the player gets the points corresponding to that specific number. The bull’s eye which is in the center facilitates the player with 50 points if hit correctly. The highest score possible on a single turn is 180 corresponding to three triple 20s.

There are many styles if darts that are available to the players. You can choose from many designs and colors that will match your personality. You can find many darts that you can change the fins of the dart if your mood changes while playing. If you want to improve your game then you will need to improve your darts, they do very in flight accuracy and performance.

Some of the most entertaining dart games are “around the clock’ and ‘killer’. For playing ‘around the clock’ the players need to hit the numbers in between 1 to 20 in ascending order. They finish by hitting the bull’s eye. The player who hits the bull’s eye first is considered as the winner.

There are many more great games that you can play, especially if you have an electric dart board. They do boast that they have over 100 dart games for you to play.

Electro Dart Boards!

Mad at something or someone? Then throw a dart! There are fewer things more satisfying than taking your aggressions out on a poor, defenseless dart board. Angry at your wife? Throw a dart! Made at your kids? Throw a few darts! Throwing darts can be great to relieve pressures of life. Darts is also a great game to play with friends and neighbors or to compete in – whether friendly or fierce competition. Dart boards have been in the pubs and bars across the country and world for years, but you might not be glad to hang around a bunch of dart throwers who have been downing whatever is on tap. So, it is a good thing that you have your own dart board in your own rec/bar room or even in your office. Arachnid is a leading manufacture of quality darts and dart boards. If you want to have fun and excitement of darts without an accidental missile strike, Arachnid is the ideal choice. Arachnid is the innovator behind the soft tip darts. These are darts with soft plastic tips. You can tell the difference between the soft tip dart boards and the hard tip boards by the perforations in the board. These fit the size of the dart point and have beveled edges that fit the dart point. Unlike dart boards that use metal tips, those used with soft plastic tips have sensors to measure the impact of the dart. The processor then calculates the score for the players. Arachnid brought this technology to homes and business the world over.

How To Set Up A Dart Board

A dart board is a great accessory to any game room or rec-room. With all the variations of the game of darts it can give you and your friends hours of entertainment. Here are a few helpful tips to bear in mind if you are thinking of installing a dart board in your home.

The location of your dart board is very important. It may sound obvious , but is important that there is enough space to play a good game of darts. As a guide line you will need enough space around 11ft long and 5ft wide. Try to locate it away from open doors and where people will be come through. Not only can this be disruptive to the game but can cause injury to someone who gets hit by a dart.

You can fix a back board behind the dart board to protect the surround wall from damages that the darts can cause, or you can get a dart board that has a built in cabinet like a floor model. Cabinets made especially for dart boards are useful for storing your darts and accessories, and enable you to close the doors on your board when it’s not in use.

Hanging your dart board it is important to take exact measurements. Measure twice and hang once! The proper height should be exactly 5ft 8 inch’s from the middle of the bulls eye to the ground. If you do not have a dart mat then you will have to make a mark on the floor, using a marker or tape or a piece of wood or metal. the trough line should me 7ft 9.25″ from the board.

Once you have the dart board in place the you can work on accessorizing the room by hanging a score board near the dart board and get some nice bar stools and tables, to keep your company comfortable.

If you are like most young men you dream of getting away from under the folks rules and move onto your own crib! If you wish you can have ice cream for breakfast and not have to worry about making a mess in the house! No parents to listen too!

Then when you got older and started going to bars it dawned on you! “A bar in my house”.

That’s where we are today. As a young adult, you’re not getting any younger! In fact, every day you’re getting one step closer to the grave. Pretty soon, you won’t be able to buy any bar furniture because you’ll be dead.

The first thing that you need is an actual bar. If possible you need to set it up against a wall along with bar stools, ones that swivel, and possible with shelves and a sink.

The bar itself doesn’t need to be too fancy. After all, a bar is really nothing more than a counter top used to pour alcohol. As long as you’ve got a counter long enough for at least 1 person to work with, you should be fine.

Other then that you need some storage space to hold your alcohol and a place to put the ice. With it being a home bar you can always store these things some where else in the house. For ideal convenience you should have some drawers and cabinets built into you bar.

Finally, you need some places for your guests to park their big behinds. Its recommended that you set your bar up in an area of the house which already has some seating arrangement. One popular choice is the living room. Because of the frequency with which this room is used, you can turn a simple get together into an alcoholic beverage bonanza!
