Home Bars and Accessorize

There are more home bars popping up all over the place with the non-smoking in bars is in place. If you own one and or looking to put a home bar in for entertaining friends and neighbors you may be want to get a few tips for accessorizing your bar. In addition to spirits and alcohol you will need to glassware, decorative items along with other functional accessories.  Here are some ideas to get you started.

Glassware

The well-stocked bar will have the right amount of glassware to entertain with, along with the right type of glasses for making most any drink imaginable. But what glasses are you going to need? The amount of glasses will depend on the amount of room that you have for storing your glasses.

Stem glasses such as wine and margarita glasses can be hung from glass ware racks to maximize your space and allow you to display them for looks. Stem-less glasses such as beer mugs, shooters, tumblers, beer glasses and more. these are usually set on rubber mats to prevent slipping.

Accessories

There are many things that you can use to accessorize your home bar. But first you need to come up with a theme. You will want to stick with one theme and see it through till the end. Such as a Harley Davidson theme. There are many others you can choose from. You can find art work hanging wall clocks some with neon rims around them that will help with lighting. you can even go with a wall paper or paneling.

This is the great thing about having your own home bar, is that it can be decorated and set up by you. Use a theme and go for it!

Create a Rec Room/Bar

When building a rec room bar the first thing to think about is the space and size. Most bars are 43 inches high and 42 inches deep. Depending on the size of the bar stools you plan on using, the height may vary. You will also have to frame the bar and leave enough room between the bar and back wall when building a rec room bar. 4 feet should be enough for any sized bartender.

You will have to consider the plumbing needs if you want hot and cold running water along with the drainage needs of said water. There is also the need to have electricity to the bar, you definitely need to have a blender/mixer for the bar plus mood lighting and clock. There is also the need for switches and plug ins and lighting for under the bar top.

The bar top is the most difficult part of the bar so that it has been said by many rec room bar builders. Most often the bars are built of many different materials and sizes. Builders usually recommend a hard wood such as Oak and it does look good.

The most important part is the under bar where you will be mixing and making drinks. You do not want to forget the cabinets for storing and the sink and possibly a small refrigerator. Do not forget the back bar where you will be storing and showing your liquor collection.

Now is the time to think of the flooring that you will use, be it carpet, rugs or other flooring.

Clocks as Art

People are using wall clocks as art, nowadays. Although they serve a purpose, they do more than that. They are more like working art and even though you may have a slew of digital clocks in the room on every small appliance you own, nothing speaks like the traditional one.

And, it doesn’t need to be traditional in style. Your choices of hanging clocks are practically unlimited. No longer are they just round time apparatuses, they come in all shapes and sizes and colors.

The truth is, the one you decide to hang in your room is all about you, your style and your taste in relation to the decor of the room in question. You will never hit a dead end with this product as there are probably millions to choose from, from the plain and simple to the ornate and elegant.

And, you may be thinking that you don’t need a ‘real’ clock because of the digital ones you have, but it is not so. Real ones are timeless and now that they are battery operated, you can always have the right time without having to reset them when there is a blackout.

If you know how to decorate a room effectively, you will see the benefits that a clock will bring to the room. As art, they make a statement and can often be much less expensive than artwork. They are so affordably priced nowadays that you can actually own a few and change them with the seasons or holidays which will change the room and give it a fresh look.

Social Butterfly Home Bar Set Up

Feel like a bottle-twirling Tom Cruise?  Simply want your house to be “the place where everyone knows your name”? Well, all you need is a Home Bar and this is how you do it.

You could go out and buy a ready-made one and get someone to install it for you but where would be the fun in that? The entertainment is in constructing it yourself and drinking of course.

Choose your location
The most important thing is to select a perfect location for your Home Bar and this part is up to you. If you’re trying to make it a retreat from the rest of the family then maybe the garage or a spare room is a good call. But if you want an all-encompassing extravaganza of booze then the basement or a large family room could be for you. You’ll also need space so plan for at least enough room to put your bar and bar tables and stools. It doesn’t really have to be a corner but you’ll find that it saves space as well as construction time.

Select a theme for your Home Bar
Are you going to have it looking like a sports bar with neon signs and sports memorabilia? An Nascar theme, perhaps, with Nascar memorabilea and steering wheels? Or what about a retro look? What’s imperative is that it fits with the overall décor of the room. If you decide to set up your bar in the study or living room, make sure it doesn’t shout for attention. In this case you might have to go with more sober styles. Maybe  preferring customizing with neon lighting, with a dart board a beer pong table and even a pool table. If you have the room and imagination then you can build a place “where they know your name.”
